From the ESPORT to Formula 2: Bolukbasi makes dream true

From the digital cockpit to the real: the exporter and racer CEM Bourbaki signed a contract at the Czech team Charon Racing System on Wednesday and thus becomes the first driver from the F1 Esports Series, which creates the jump into Formula 2.

I had no time to leave the sack, says Bourbaki and explains with regard to his career: If I had never been with F1 ESPORTS, I would never have had the chance to get into a real car. I would not be there where I am now. I think it's very important to be the first player who does this because it can give people hope.

Since 2017 in the F1 Esports Series

For seven years, the 23-year-old has been traveling in virtual racing series, since 2017 also in the F1 Esports Series. A year later, Bourbaki was under contract from the Esports team of Too Ross, the Farm Team of Red Bull — 2020 he took the title in Formula Renault Esport Series.

Despite his successes in SIM racing, the Turks but also the real world of motorsport is well known. Already as a child, Bourbaki was on the road in motorcycle and Kart sport, last year he also drove in the Asian Championship of Formula 3 and came in 13 out of 15 races in the points — the rise in Formula 2 is therefore long ago with his success as an exporter linked.

We are very pleased to welcome a brilliant driver like CEM in our Formula 2 team, says Antonin Charon, team owner of Charon Racing System. It will be a challenging new experience for him, but he has already shown that he has the stuff to learn quickly and achieve good results in some of the most competitive and toughest formula 1 supply categories.
